JACKSONVILLE, Ill. — Grayson Ogren scored his 10th goal of the season Saturday, but the Lawrence University men's soccer team suffered its first loss of the year in a 4-1 setback against Illinois College.
Lawrence moved to 3-1-2 overall and 0-1-0 in Midwest Conference play as Illinois College scored twice in each half.
The Blueboys struck first in the eighth minute when Wyatt Gerstenslager found the net before J'Aiden Cranwell-Meneses doubled the advantage at 21:12.
Ogren gave Lawrence life in the second half. Issac Newcomb supplied the assist at 64:36, and Ogren converted for his 10th goal of the campaign to trim the deficit to 2-1.
Illinois College answered late, however, getting a goal from Elijah Bunda at 77:58 before Cranwell-Meneses scored his second of the match less than two minutes later to produce the final margin.
Ogren accounted for three of Lawrence's four shots and put all three on goal. Cristian Puebla faced steady pressure in the Lawrence net and finished with eight saves.
Illinois College held a 21-4 advantage in total shots and a 12-3 edge in shots on goal, while the Blueboys generated eight corner kicks to Lawrence's two.
