APPLETON, Wis. — Lawrence University women's soccer remained unbeaten to open the season with a commanding 3-0 victory over Lakeland University on Sunday at the Banta Bowl.
The Vikings improved to 3-0-1 through their first four matches while controlling the contest from start to finish. Lawrence outshot Lakeland 34-3, put 17 attempts on goal and generated 21 corner kicks while holding the Muskies without a corner.
Lawrence consistently pressured the Lakeland defense in the opening half, firing 20 shots and earning 10 corners before halftime. The breakthrough came in the 23rd minute when Zoe Feeley-Wheeler scored her first goal of the season off an assist from Elena Hartung, giving the Vikings a 1-0 advantage.
The Vikings continued to dictate play after the break, and Kylie Melonis helped pad the Lawrence lead in the 66th minute after briefly leaving the match with an injury. Melonis returned to the field and capitalized on a deflected save from Lakeland goalkeeper Ingrid Steinbock, putting away the rebound for her team-leading third goal of the season and giving the Vikings a 2-0 advantage.
Ava Bedan added the finishing touch in the 75th minute, picking the feet of a Lakeland defender before burying her shot past Steinbock for her first goal of the season, pushing the Lawrence lead to 3-0.
Lawrence's attack featured contributions throughout the lineup. Hannah Kalt and Ava Elders each recorded five shots, while Hartung and Feeley-Wheeler each finished with four. Melonis put two of her three attempts on frame, while Bedan scored on one of her three shots.
Defensively, the Vikings limited Lakeland to just three total shots and only one on goal. Claire Brockhert made the lone save required of her across 75-plus minutes to earn the victory, while Kat Heyn closed out the shutout over the final 14:34.
The victory keeps Lawrence unbeaten through four matches at 3-0-1 and gives the Vikings another clean sheet during their strong start to the 2026 campaign.
