Carson Huelle joined the Lawrence University women's basketball coaching staff in 2022.
Huelle is the first full-time assistant coach in program history and also serves as the recruiting coordinator.
"I'm extremely blessed to be a part of the Lawrence University women's basketball program," Huelle said. "I was attracted to the position after learning about Coach Riley Woldt's track record in developing strong relationships with his players and staff. After watching hours of film on the team and having a series of conversations with both Coach Woldt and (Assistant) Coach Bri (Hauge) about the personnel, it seemed like a perfect fit."
A native of Fort Collins, Colo., Huelle was a standout on the basketball team and won three letters at Fort Collins High School. Huelle has college athletics in his blood as his father, Rusty, played football at Colorado State University and coached college basketball for 13 seasons.
A standout player at Fort Collins High School, Huelle attended Doane University and played basketball there for two seasons. He transferred to Augsburg University and spent two seasons with the Auggies. Huelle played for one season and spent his senior season as a student assistant coach. Huelle graduated summa cum laude from Augsburg in 2022 with a degree in psychology.
Huelle has put an emphasis on player development since his college playing days ended. He served as a trainer at Schmidt Performance in Fort Collins, Colo., before joining the Lawrence staff. Huelle also runs WNBA Fans Only, the largest WNBA fan page on Instagram.
"Carson is passionate about helping our student-athletes grow and develop confidence in themselves both on and off the court," Woldt said. "I really appreciate his experience in player development and am excited to have our players to get that extra attention on the court. He is also very creative, confident and has a wonderful knack for connecting with people. He truly appreciates the Division III student-athlete experience and is motivated to help us provide a wonderful experience for everyone involved with our program and at Lawrence University."
