MONMOUTH, Ill. -- The Monmouth College men's soccer team held on for a 2-1 Midwest Conference win over Lawrence University.

Lawrence's Jawad Weleidat scored at the 82:08 mark to cut Monmouth's lead in half, but the Vikings were unable to get the equalizer.

Monmouth led 1-0 at the half on a goal by Agustin Miranda, and the Scots upped the lead on a penalty kick in the 76th minute.

Lawrence rookie AJ Bryant made his debut in goal and stopped four shots for Lawrence.
