Box Score APPLETON, Wis. -- The Monmouth College soccer team pulled away in the second half Sunday to post a 5-2 Midwest Conference victory over Lawrence University on Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl.
The game was tied 1-1 at the half, but Monmouth broke the tie just 4:35 into the second half on a goal from Agustin Miranda. Lucas Sondgeroth then scored in the 66th minute, and Lukas Nilsson added a goal in the 78th minute to give Monmouth a 4-1 edge.
Lawrence cut the lead to 4-2 at the 83:29 mark when Julien Riviere scored on a header off Suguaru Yoshitake's corner kick. Monmouth countered with another Nilsson goal at 84:35 to finish the scoring.
Monmouth took the early lead on Martin Zafirov's goal at the 5:08 mark. Will Nichols tied it for the Vikings with a goal at 29:36 off assists from Wedson Martins Kazambwe and Brendan Vellenga.
Cadan Glattback made two saves to get the win for Monmouth. Cole Kelez and Hunter Lanton each played a half for Lawrence and recorded four saves apiece.
