Vikings shut out Finlandia

HANCOCK, Mich. -- The Lawrence University men's soccer team scored late in the first half and early in the second half and went on to post a 2-0 nonconference win over Finlandia University at McAfee Field.

Julien Riviere got Lawrence (1-5-0) on the board at 38:33 when he scored on a header off a pass from Brendan Vellenga. It was the first career goal for Riviere, a sophomore who spent most of his rookie season playing in goal. Lawrence made it 2-0 less than 10 minutes into the second half when Will Nichols scored at the 54:54 mark. 

Lawrence piled up a 21-10 advantage in shots.

Hunter Lanton made two saves to pick up his first career shutout for Lawrence. Noah Raisanen made 11 saves for Finlandia.
