Blueboys edge Lawrence

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. -- The Illinois College men's soccer team held on for a 2-1 win over Lawrence University on Saturday at England Field.

The Blueboys grabbed a 2-0 lead before Lawrence struck for a goal in the 76th minute, but the Vikings could not get the equalizer.

Brady O'Connell scored at the 17:52 mark to put Illinois College ahead, and Brandon Sommer scored at the 67:57 mark to give the Blueboys a two-goal advantage.

Lawrence rookie Suguaru Yoshitake cut the lead in half with a strike from well outside the box at the 75:31 mark. It was Yoshitake's first collegiate goal.

Raul Rubalcava made six saves to earn the win, and Hunter Lanton stopped four shots for the Vikings.
