Lawrence falls to Foresters

APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University men's soccer team fell 6-1 in a flurry of Lake Forest College goals in the second half Saturday in a Midwest Conference match on Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl.

The Foresters scored five times in the second half, including three goals in a stretch of nine minutes.

Lake Forest led 1-0 after scoring in the 17th minute, and the score stayed that way until the Foresters made it 2-0 in the 51st minute. Lucas Geib then scored two consecutive goals for the Foresters, and he added another goal after a tally by Gaston Aubert.

Lawrence got a goal in the 88th minute from Mark Todd to break up the shutout. Todd scored on a rebound after a shot by Jack Morrissey. The Vikings managed to score while down two field players after a pair of yellow cards sent one player off and a red guard sent the goalkeeper off after he made a save with his hands outside the box.

Hunter Lanton made seven saves for Lawrence, and Evan Ney stopped three shots in relief. Jan Roessler made four saves for the Foresters.
