Lawrence shoots down Sabercats

WATERTOWN, Wis. -- The Lawrence University men's soccer team scored three consecutive goals Saturday en route to a 4-2 nonconference victory at Maranatha Baptist University.

David Benjamin scored a pair of goals, and Jack Morrissey had a goal an assist to lead the Lawrence offense. The Vikings' defense limited Maranatha to just nine shots.

The game was tied 1-1 midway through the first half when Benjamin scored an unassisted goal at the 26:24 mark to put the Vikings ahead. Lawrence took that 2-1 edge into halftime and expanded the lead early in the second half.

Zachary Currie scored less than nine minutes into the second half off a pass from Mark Todd to put the Vikings up 3-1. Benjamin then scored at the 71:07 mark off a pass from Morrissey to give the Vikings a 4-1 edge.

Hunter Lanton made one save to pick up the win for the Vikings.

Morrissey got the scoring started with an unassisted goal at the 11:18 mark, and Maranatha tied it on a goal a little more than four minutes later.
