MIDDLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University women's tennis team dropped a 5-0 decision to Lake Forest College on Friday in a semifinal match of the Midwest Conference Tournament.Â
  The Foresters advanced to face Grinnell College in the championship match at Hitters SportsPlex.
  Lake Forest (8-3) jumped on the Vikings (6-5) by sweeping the doubles matches. Lawrence lost the No. 2 singles match 8-0, and the No. 3 team fell 8-4. The Vikings nearly salvaged a point with the No. 1 doubles team of
Margot Connor and
Emma Koppa but the Forester hung on for an 8-6 win.
  Margaret Bugnacki topped
Emma Koppa at No. 3 singles, and Katie Wegrecki downed
Morgan Fisher at No. 5 to get to five points and clinch the match. The other four matches were stopped once the team result is determined.
  Lawrence finished third in the regular season standings and earned a berth in the tournament for the first time since 2011.
