Wicks grabs MWC Special Teams Player of the Week award

Cameron Wicks was named the Midwest Conference Special Teams Player of the Week.
APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University football standout Cameron Wicks has been named the Midwest Conference Special Teams Player of the Week.
Wicks (Melbourne, Fla./Central Catholic) earned the honor after returning a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown at Lake Forest College.
A junior wide receiver, Wicks ripped off the 95-yard return early in the third quarter at Farwell Field. It's the fourth-longest kickoff return in Lawrence history, trailing only College Football Hall of Famer Scott Reppert (102 yards), current teammate Terrell Myers (100 yards) and All-American Chuck McKee (98 yards).
Wicks finished with three kickoff returns for 141 yards for a 47-yard average. Wicks also caught seven passes for 81 yards and a touchdown.
This is the first conference performer of the week award for Wicks and the second weekly award for the Vikings this season. Myers was chosen as Defensive Player of the Week after Lawrence's 42-6 win over Finlandia University in the season opener. Wicks is the first Lawrence player to earn Special Teams Player of the Week since Ethan Simmons did it on Oct. 29, 2018.
Lawrence returns to action on Saturday when the Vikings travel to Grinnell College for a Midwest Conference game.
