His high water mark for hits was a 4-for-5 performance against Grinnell College.
Charon also proved to be a factor on the basepaths as he stole 15 bases in 17 attempts, and the 15 steals also is a career high.
Berglin was chosen for the all-region team for the second consecutive season. A 2021 second-team pick at first base, Berglin earned his honor this season as a pitcher.
The Midwest Conference Pitcher of the Year, Berglin posted a 6-2 record with a school-record 2.29 earned run average in 10 starts. Opponents hit just .218 against him, and Berglin allowed just nine extra-base hits on the season.
Berglin, who ranked in the top 50 in the nation in ERA, gave up 47 hits over 63 innings, an average of 6.7 hits over nine innings. Berglin also struck out 55 batters for a rate of 7.9 strikeouts per nine innings.
Berglin tossed a pair of shutouts on the season. He shut down Grinnell on three hits while striking out a career-high 11 in an 11-0 victory over the Pioneers. He also shut out Illinois College on four hits in a 3-0 victory. Berglin gave up a career-low one hit over eight innings in a 5-0 victory over Beloit College.Â
Krepline picked up his second coaching honor of the season after being chosen as Midwest Conference Coach of the Year. Krepline is the first Lawrence coach to be honored the region's top coach by D3baseball.com.Â
In his fourth season at Lawrence, Krepline rebuilt the squad during the pandemic. His team went from five wins in first season in 2019 to a program-record 26 victories against 13 losses in 2022.
Krepline guided Lawrence to its first Midwest Conference title since 1980 and its first NCAA Division III Tournament berth since 1979.
Lawrence went 18-6 in league play and posted a sparkling 11-1 record against the three other teams, Illinois College, the University of Chicago and Ripon College, that reached the conference tournament. Lawrence went 3-0 during the league tournament and collected 11 come-from-behind victories this season, including two in the conference tourney.
