Knoll's sizzling bat earns him MWC Player of the Week honor

Parker Knoll hit .700 for the week as the Vikings won the league title.
Ā  Ā  APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University baseball standout Parker Knoll swung a hot bat in the final series of the season and earned Midwest Conference Player of the Week honors.
Ā  Ā  Knoll (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) hit .700 for the week as the Vikings won the series with the University of Chicago and captured their first Midwest Conference title since 1980.
Ā  Ā  Knoll, a rookie center fielder, went 7-for-10 with two doubles, a triple, four runs scored and four runs batted in. In a doubleheader to start the three-game series, Knoll went 5-for-6 with two doubles, three runs scored and one driven in as the Vikings won 8-2. In the second game of the doubleheader, Knoll was 2-for-4 with a triple, three RBIs and a run scored in Lawrence's 8-3 victory that clinched the conference title. Knoll also stole a pair of bases to push his season total to a conference-best 32.
Ā  Ā  This is the first Player of the Week award for Knoll, and the third for the Vikings in 2022. Lawrence also has earned three Pitcher of the Week awards this season.Ā 
Ā  Ā  Knoll is hitting a team-high .430 with 12 doubles, four triples, two homers and 26 RBIs. Batting in the lead-off spot in the order, Knoll has set Lawrence season records with 49 runs scored, 61 hits and 32 stolen bases.
Ā  Ā  Lawrence, which has won a program-record 23 games, returns to action on Friday when the Vikings (23-11) open Midwest Conference Tournament play against Illinois College at Whiting Field.
