APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University women's tennis team got the Midwest Conference season off to a good start Saturday morning with an 8-1 victory over Cornell College on the Lawrence Courts.
  The Vikings swept the three doubles matches and won the Nos. 2-6 singles.
  The No. 1 doubles team of
Margot Connor and
Emma Koppa rolled to an 8-0 victory, and
Lauren Aturaliya and
Chloe Lamb were 8-4 winners for the Vikings at No. 2.
Anna Vanden Acker and
Morgan Fisher finished the doubles sweep with an 8-2 win at No. 3.
  Aturaliya and Koppa led the charge in singles as Aturaliya dropped just one game in her match at No. 2 singles, and Koppa won all 12 games in her match at No. 3. Vanden Acker lost the first two games of her match at No. 5 singles and then rattled off 12 consecutive game wins to close out her match.
  In the other singles matches,
Chloe Lamb won a hard-fought first set and then cruised to a 6-1 win in the second to close out her match at No. 4.
Morgan Fisher also rolled to a straight-sets win at No. 6.
  Lawrence moves to 2-3 and 1-0 in the league, and Cornell is 0-1 in conference play and 3-3 overall.
