GRINNELL, Iowa -- Lawrence University swimming standout
Will Phillips broke the school record in the 100-yard freestyle to highlight the Vikings' performances at the Pioneer Classic this weekend.
  Phillips took second in the event with a time of 47.24 seconds to break the record of 47.78 set by Lawrence Hall of Famer Brian Murphy in 1997. Phillips also took fifth in the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.74 seconds.Â

Jackson Bertman took the title in the 1-meter diving with a score of 371.10 points. Bertman also grabbed third in the 3-meter diving with a score of 338.20.

Keegan Mencke placed in the top eight in a pair of events. He took sixth in the 1,650 freestyle with a time of 17:10.94 and was eighth in the 400 individual medley in 4:26.46.

Michael Thorson swam to seventh in the 200 backstroke in 2:07.33, and
Aaron Harris was ninth in the 200 breaststroke in 2:20.42.
  Lawrence's top relay was the 400 freestyle relay team of Phillips, Mencke, Thorson and
Sebastian Stacey, who finished sixth in 3:20.48. The 800 freestyle relay team of
Adam Martin,
Leighton Frater, Stacey and Thorson took eighth in 7:58.53.
  Lawrence's 400 medley relay team of Frater, Harris, Stacey and Phillips took 10th in 3:48.12. The 200 freestyle relay team of Stacey, Mencke, Harris and Phillips also took 10th in 1:31.36. The 200 medley relay team of Frater, Harris, Stacey and Phillips took 10th in 1:44.00.
  Lawrence placed third in the team standings with 402 points. The Lawrence women were fifth with 305 points.
  Irina Starostin paced the Lawrence women with a pair of top-five finishes. Starostin took fifth in the 100 freestyle in a time of 55.41 seconds. She also grabbed fifth in the 100 butterfly in 1:02.40, and teammate Kiran Jayasinghe finished eighth in 1:04.67.
  Lawrence's 800 freestyle relay team of Ella Lee, Kristyn Landon, Olivia Ashe and Kylie White were ninth in 9:32.59. The 400 medley relay team of White, Starostin, Jayasinghe and Stella Macfarlane took 10th in 4:27.01.Â
