JACKSONVILLE, Ill. --
Cristyn Oliver added to her trophy case Friday, and
Riley Winebrenner broke a school record on the first day of the Midwest Conference Championships at King Fieldhouse.
  Oliver led three Lawrence runners in the top six in the mile and claimed the fourth conference title of her indoor career. Oliver won the mile in 5:15.33 and posted a winning margin of more than six seconds over Ripon College's Natalie Pakosz. Oliver won three titles in 2022, taking first in the mile and the 3,000 meters to go along with running a leg on Lawrence's winning distance medley relay team.
  Rookie
Berkeley Krell was fifth in the mile with a time of 5:31.59 and teammate
Madeline Taylor was sixth in 5:34.17.
  Winebrenner took fourth in a fast 5,000-meter race with a time of 18:19.05. That broke the mark of 18:27.11, which was set by Oliver in 2022. Lawrence's
Edythmae Frodl placed seventh for the Vikings with a time of 19:06.09.
  Lawrence also placed in a pair of relays.
  The sprint medley relay team of
Emily Sugiyama,
Morgan Cross,
Faith Onukaogu and
Lilia Bodnar took fourth with a time of 4:32.91. The 4x200 relay of Cross,
Claire Paquin,
Irene Yank and Sugiyama was seventh in 1:52.86.
  The Lawrence women are in fourth place in the team standings with 31 points. Ripon is first with 65.Â
  On the men's side, Greyson Schneider placed second in the pole vault and just missed breaking his own school record. Schneider was second at 14 feet, 1.25 inches, an inch away from breaking his mark of 14-2. Â
  David Benjamin placed in one event and ran on a relay that placed. Benjamin took sixth in the long jump with a leap of 21-8. He teamed with Jaydon Watson, Tristan Zook and Will Eggert to take fifth in the 4x200 relay in 1:35.95.
  Zook also placed in the high jump as he took eighth with a height of 5-10. Zook also teamed with Watson, Marcus Jackson and Bergen Thorson to place fifth in the sprint medley relay with a time of 3:51.01.Â
  Adam Bruce was the other individual to place on Friday as he took eighth in the 5,000 with a time of 15:56.58.
  The Lawrence men are in sixth place with 21 points, and Ripon leads with 96.
