WAUKESHA, Wis. -- Lawrence University track and field standout Ian Thomas shattered the school record in the javelin throw on Sunday at the Wisconsin Private College Championships at Punches Track and Field Complex.
  Thomas fired the javelin 188 feet, 9 inches, to easily surpass his own record. Thomas had set the mark of 178-1 in 2022. Thomas finished first in the event among the teams competing.Â
  Led by Thomas, Lawrence finished eighth in the team standings with 25 points.Â
  The other top finishers for the Lawrence men were Greyson Schneider and David Benjamin. Schneider took fourth in the pole vault by clearing 13-9.25, and he placed eighth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:02.47. Benjamin leaped to fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 42-3.25.
  Benjamin also ran on the two Lawrence relays that placed. Benjamin teamed with Tristan Zook, Tyler Scott and Will Eggert to take eighth in the 4x100 relay in 46.12 seconds. The 4x400 team of Benjamin, Marcus Jackson, Connor Myatt and Bergen Thorson took eighth in 3:44.27.
  Zook and Jackson also placed in individual events. Jackson was seventh in the 400 in 54.82 seconds, and Zook was eighth in the high jump with a height of 5-8.75.
  On the women's side, the distance runners led the way.Â
  Three Vikings placed in the 5,000 with
Cristyn Oliver taking third in 18:46.55.
Riley Winebrenner was fifth in 19:10.37, and
Rain Orsi grabbed eighth place in 20:44.36.

Madeline Taylor raced to fifth place in the 1,500 with a time of 5:16.58, and
Eliza Wunderlich grabbed fifth in the 10,000 with a time of 51:13.39.
Irene Yank was the other individual to place as she took seventh in the 100 hurdles in 17.79 seconds.
  The 4x400 relay team of
Claire Paquin,
Lilia Bodnar,
Emily Sugiyama and Taylor grabbed a top-three finish as they took third in 4:29.32.

Grace Fox led the way in the field events as she took sixth in the javelin with a throw of 93-9.
  The Lawrence women took ninth in the team standings with 31 points.
