DE PERE, Wis. -- The Lawrence University track teams got a number of solid performances while battling the opposition and the weather at the St. Norbert College Invitational on Saturday at Schneider Stadium.
    Competing in cold and rainy conditions, Irene Yank, Morgan Cross, Mariana Zendejas and Claire Paquin placed in three events apiece to pace the Lawrence women, who took fifth place with 80 points. Ian Thomas placed in a pair of events for the Lawrence men, who were seventh with 37 points.
    Yank took second to lead three Vikings in the top five in the triple jump. Yank grabbed the runner-up spot with a leap of 32 feet, 1 inch. Zendejas was third with a distance of 31-7.25, and Anna Vanden Acker placed fifth at 30-0.75.
    Yank also led three Vikings in the top seven in the 110-meter hurdles. Yank finished fifth in 17.87 seconds, Zendejas was sixth at 18.31 and Claire Paquin was seventh at 18.54 seconds. In the 400 hurdles, Paquin raced to fourth place in 1:14.42.
    Yank also teamed with Paquin, Cross and Emily Sugiyama to take second in the 4x100-meter relay in 52.89 seconds. Cross finished eighth in the 100 in 13.82 seconds.
    Lawrence's Riley Winebrenner grabbed second in the 3,000 steeplechase after a tough battle with Ripon College's Mikayla Flyte. Winebrenner took second in 11:47.77, and Flyte edged her for first in 11:44.98.
    Faith Onukaogu led three Lawrence finishers in the top eight in the 800. Onukaogu took fourth in 2:32.96, Berkeley Krell was sixth in 2:33.33 and Lilia Bodnar was eighth in 2:34.13. Onukaogu teamed with Madeline Taylor, Bodnar and Sugiyama to take sixth in the 4x400 relay in 4:42.91.
    The distance runners were led by Cristyn Oliver, who took third in the 5,000 in 18:49.58. Teammate Althea Foster used a strong finish to take fifth in 19:19.75.
    Lawrence placed three in the top eight in the long jump, with Itzel Vega Juarez taking sixth at 15-9.75. Cross was seventh at 15-4.75, and Zendejas took eighth at 15-2.25.
    Among the throwers, Myra Johnson placed seventh in the discus with a heave of 118-10.
    Thomas, the top javelin thrower in the Midwest Conference, took second in the javelin with a throw of 170-2. He was the top collegiate finisher in the event as the winner was an unattached athlete. Teammate Jaydon Watson placed sixth at 141-5. Thomas also grabbed seventh in the shotput with a heave of 39-6.
    Will Eggert grabbed third in the triple jump with a leap of 42-6.25, and the other athlete to place in a field event was Nyhan O'Sullivan, who was seventh in the pole vault at 10-4.
    Connor Myatt ran to sixth place in the 1,500 with a time of 4:19.37. Tristan Zook sprinted to seventh in the 100 in 11.70 seconds, and Ray Wetzel-Meehan was sixth in the 400 hurdles in 1:03.36.
    The 4x100 relay team of David Benjamin, Marcus Jackson, Eggert and Watson took fifth in 45.24 seconds. The 4x400 relay team of Benjamin, Myatt, Jackson and Bergen Thorson was seventh in 3:42.33.
