Vikings claim five event wins at Red Hawk Spring Showdown

    RIPON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University track and field teams claimed five event victories on Saturday at the Red Hawk Spring Showdown at Ingalls Field.
    The Lawrence women were second with 81 points, and the men took third with 62.5 points.
    On the women's side, Lawrence claimed a pair of victories. Lilia Bodnar took first in the 400 meters in a time of 1:03.75 and led four Lawrence runners in the top five. Faith Onukaogu was second in 1:05.09, Jacey Stanich was fourth in 1:10.29 and Amanda Endicott was fifth in 1:20.34.
    Claire Paquin took the other win as she claimed first in the 400 hurdles in 1:10.64. Irene Yank was second in the 100 hurdles in 17.16 seconds, followed by Mariana Zendejas in third at 17.45 and Paquin in fourth at 17.93.
    Zendejas grabbed third in the long jump at 15 feet, 5.5 inches with Yank in fifth at 14-10 and Itzel Vega Juarez in sixth at 13-5. Anna Vanden Acker grabbed fourth in the triple jump at 31-3.25.
    Morgan Cross posted a pair of fourth-place finishes with a fourth in the 100 in 13.19 seconds and a fourth in the 200 in 28.56 seconds.
    Grace Fox led the throwers as she took third in the discus at 119-11. Myra Johnson placed fourth at 114-10, and Aparna Gajulapalli was fifth at 103-6. Fox also took fourth in the javelin at 88-0 and fifth in the hammer throw at 115-3. 
    Johnson placed fourth in the shotput at 34-2.75, and Gajulapalli was sixth at 29-3.75. 
    Riley Winebrenner led the distance runners by placing sixth in the 1,500 in 5:06.88.
    The 4x100 relay team took second in 52.52 seconds, and the 4x400 team was third in 4:27.53.
    Ian Thomas led the Lawrence men by winning a pair of events. Thomas took first in the shotput with a heave of 42-8 and grabbed the top spot in the javelin at 155-10. Jaydon Watson was second in the javelin at 151-11 and Will Eggert was fifth at 127-8.
    Tristan Zook grabbed second in the high jump at 5-4.25, and he took fourth in the 200 in 23.38 seconds.
    David Benjamin leaped to second in the long jump at 20-7, and Eggert took fourth in the triple jump at 42-2. Nyhan O'Sullivan took third in the pole vault at 10-0.
    Marcus Jackson led three Lawrence runners in the top three in the 400. Jackson took third in 53.10 seconds, Benjamin was fourth in 54.75 seconds and Eggert was sixth in 55.25 seconds.
    Bergen Thorson placed sixth in the 800 in 2:01.81, and Connor Myatt was sixth in the 1,500 in 4:13.44. 
    Lawrence's 4x400 relay team grabbed the other first-place finish with a time of 3:36.62. The 4x100 team was second in 44.27 seconds.
