GRINNELL, Iowa -- Irina Starostin posted a runner-up finish Saturday to pace the Lawrence University swimming and diving teams on day two of the Midwest Conference Championships at Osgood Pool.
  Starostin came up just short in a battle with Grinnell College's Camryn Gonzales in the 100-yard butterfly. Gonzales took the top spot in 56.81 seconds, and Starostin was second in 57.33 seconds.Â
  Lawrence had two divers place in the top six in the 1-meter competition. Olivia Martin took fourth place with 276.05 points, and Chloe VandeHey was sixth with 268.10 points.
  The Lawrence women also had two relays that placed in the top eight. The 200 medley relay team of Kylie White, Stella Macfarlane, Kiran Jayasinghe and Starostin took seventh in 1:58.83. The 800 freestyle relay team of Kristyn Landon, Ella Lee, Olivia Ashe and Katarina Stanley grabbed eighth place in 8:57.36.
  The Lawrence women are fourth in the team standings with 189 points.

Michael Thorson led the Lawrence men as he took fourth in the 400 individual medley in 4:17.14. Teammate
Keegan Mencke was close behind as he took sixth in 4:18.40.Â
  The men's 200 medley relay team of
Leighton Frater,
Aaron Harris,
Sebastian Stacey and
Will Phillips placed fourth in 1:38.32.
  The Lawrence men are in fourth place with 172 points.
