Bertman opens NCAA Diving Regional competition

Jackson Bertman finished 19th in the 3-meter competition at the NCAA Regional.
    GRANVILLE, Ohio -- Lawrence University standout Jackson Bertman opened the NCAA Division III Central Region Diving Championships on Friday with the 3-meter competition.
    Bertman, a sophomore from Alexandria, Va., finished 19th with a score of 338.45 at the Trumbull Aquatics Center. Israel Zavaleta of Kenyon College took the top spot with a score of 578.25.
    Bertman's top dive in the 11-dive competition came on his next-to-last dive of the day. Bertman recorded a score of 39.60 on a forward 2 1/2 somersault in the pike position. Bertman's four best dives of the day were his last four. He posted scores of 36.45, 36.75, 39.60 and 37.80 to finish his day. 
    Bertman returns to the board on Saturday when he takes part in the 1-meter competition.
