APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University baseball team took home three of the Midwest Conference's top awards and nine Vikings were chosen for the all-conference team in a vote of league coaches.

Jacob Charon was chosen as Player of the Year, and
Quinn Berglin garnered Pitcher of the Year honors.
Chris Krepline was chosen as the league's Coach of the Year. In addition to Charon and Berglin, seven other Vikings were selected for the all-conference team.

Elden Santana joined Charon and Berglin on the first team, and
Brandon Brust,
Nick Katz,
Taylor Freeman and
Zach Leslie all made the second team.
  Charon (Kenosha, Wis./St. Joseph) capped a tremendous career by earning his second league Player of the Year award. Also the Player of the Year in 2022, Charon hit .523 in conference play with eight doubles, one triple, seven home runs and 35 runs batted in. In conference play, Charon posted a .611 on-base percentage and .875 slugging percentage for a huge 1.486 OPS. This marks the third consecutive season Charon was an all-conference selection.
  On the season, Charon is third in all of NCAA Division III with a .468 batting average. He piled up 13 doubles, two triples, 14 home runs and tied his own season record with 61 RBIs. He also broke Knoll's season hits record with 72.Â
  Charon's name is all over the top of multiple Lawrence career statistical categories. He is second with a .384 batting average and ranks first with a .736 slugging percentage. He ranks first in runs (161), first in hits (208), first in homers (45) and first in RBIs (195). Charon ranks second in doubles (39), second in walks (88) and fourth in triples (8). Â
  Berglin (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) also claimed his second Pitcher of the Year award. Berglin, who was named the league's top pitcher in 2022, earned first-team all-conference honors for the third consecutive season. The right-hander went 6-0 in conference play with a 1.74 earned run average. Berglin struck out 43 and walked 11 in 41.1 innings while holding the opposition to a .204 batting average. Berglin allowed just eight earned runs in conference play and limited opponents to four extra-base hits, all doubles.
  On the season, Berglin broke Lawrence's season wins record with a 9-0 mark. He topped the eight wins posted by Lawrence Hall of Famer John Bill in 1978. Berglin compiled the second-lowest season ERA of his career at 2.16 over 66.2 innings. He struck out a school-record 79, breaking the mark of 73 set by Aaron Sorenson back in 2004, against just 20 walks.
  Krepline was chosen as the league's Coach of the Year for the second time in three seasons after also being selected in 2022. Krepline coached the Vikings to the conference's regular-season title and to a school-record 31-11 mark. Lawrence broke the school record of 26 wins set in 2022. Krepline, who just completed his sixth season at Lawrence, now has a 93-91 career record and ranks fifth on the school's wins list. He's just two wins behind Rich Agness (95), three shy of Jason Anderson (96) and nine away from Korey Krueger (102). Jeff School, who coached 16 seasons from 1982-97, is the leader with 150 victories.
  Perez (Manteno, Ill./Manteno), a junior who split his time between left field and third base, was a first-team selection for the second straight season. Perez hit .437 in conference play with 10 doubles, one triple, 10 homers and a team-best 37 RBIs.Â
  Perez hit .400 for the season and has now hit .400 or better for two straight seasons. Perez pounded out 12 doubles, two triples, 14 homers and 57 RBIs. The 57 RBIs is the second-highest season total in Lawrence history.
  Knoll (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) earned first-team all-conference honors for the third straight year. A junior center fielder, Knoll hit .391 in conference play with nine doubles, one triple, eight homers and 29 RBIs while scoring 41 runs. Also a superlative defender, Knoll made the spectacular play seem routine in center field. He recorded a number of diving catches, including two in one contest against Illinois College, and made multiple long runs to catch balls in the gaps that looked like they were destined for extra bases.
  On the season, Knoll hit .393 with 12 doubles, one triple and a team-best 16 home runs. He drove in 54 runs while scoring a team-best 68 runs. Knoll leads the nation at 1.62 runs scored per game. Knoll also proved to be a major threat on the bases with 21 steals during the campaign.Â
  Santana (Brooklyn, N.Y./Berkeley Carroll), a senior right-hander, made the all-conference team for the first time. Santana compiled a 5-1 record in conference play with a 4.05 ERA over 33.1 innings. He struck out 42, including a 12-strikeout performance against Monmouth College, and walked only 19 while holding opponents to a .187 batting average.Â
  Santana, who earned Midwest Conference Pitcher of the Week honors during the season, finished with a 5-2 overall record and a 3.36 ERA. Santana piled up 67 strikeouts against 30 walks in 56.1 innings.Â
  Freeman (Missouri City, Texas/Houston Christian), a junior second baseman, was chosen for the all-conference team for the second time in his career. A first-team pick in 2022, Freeman hit .323 in conference play with eight doubles, eight homers, 27 RBIs and a team-best 36 runs scored. He also led the team in league play with 15 stolen bases.
  On the season, Freeman hit .337 with 14 doubles, one triple, 15 home runs, 49 RBIs and 59 runs scored. He also swiped a team-best 28 bases.
  Leslie (Chicago, Ill./University of Chicago Lab), a senior first baseman, earned all-conference honors for the second time in his career. Leslie, a second-team pick in 2022, hit .352 in conference play with five doubles, one triple, five homers and 23 RBIs. Adept at getting on base, Leslie put together a .510 on-base percentage with the help of 14 walks and being hit by a pitch 11 times. An outstanding defender, Leslie made just one error (only the second of his career) and compiled a .995 fielding percentage.Â
  Leslie compiled a .316 batting average on the season with seven doubles, one triple, five homers, 33 RBIs and 27 runs scored.
  Katz (San Francisco, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep), a sophomore left-handed pitcher, posted a 3-1 mark in the league with a 4.04 ERA over 35.2 innings. Chosen for the all-conference team for the first time, Katz fanned 25 while issuing just four walks in conference play. A two-time Midwest Conference Pitcher of the Week, Katz went 5-2 on the season with a 4.53 ERA. Over 57.2 innings, he struck out 34 and walked eight.Â
   Brust (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands), a right-handed relief pitcher, went 3-0 coming out of the bullpen and picked up a pair of saves in conference play. In 22.2 innings, Brust struck out 28 and walked 16. On the season, Brust compiled a 4-1 record with a 1.51 ERA over 37.2 innings. He struck out 49 and walked 25 while limiting the opposition to a .227 batting average.
  Lawrence's nine selections ties for the most in school history. The 2006 team also had nine selections when the teams were chosen by division.     Â
