APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University men's cross country standout
Ryan Cassiday earned Midwest Conference Performer of the Week honors.
  Cassiday (Fitchburg, Wis./Verona), a junior, picked up the award after winning his first collegiate title at the Gene Davis Invitational. Cassiday covered the 8,000 meters in 24:53.4 at Reid Golf Course. Cassiday's time of 24:53 is the third-fastest time in Lawrence history.
  Cassiday also led Lawrence to the team title at its own invitational.
  This is the first weekly conference honor for Cassiday and the second of the season for the Vikings. Lawrence's
Nick Hansen won the award on September 16.
  Lawrence returns to action on Saturday at the Augustana Interregional Invitational.
