Rock Island, IL ā The Lawrence University men's and women's cross country teams traveled to Rock Island, Illinois, on Saturday to compete in the highly competitive
Augustana Interregional Invitational, hosted at the
Saukie Golf Course.
The
Lawrence men's team placed
21st overall with a team score of
655 points in the Blue 8K race. Facing off against some of the top programs in the region and country, the Vikings held their own and finished better than 8 other regionally ranked teams and one national ranked team.
Leading the way for Lawrence was
Nick Hansen, who crossed the line in
74th place overall with a strong performance against an elite field. He was closely followed by
Ryan Cassidy, who took
86th place and continued his consistent season.
On the women's side, Lawrence finished
35th overall as a team with a score of
928 points in the women's 6K Blue race.
The top performer for the Vikings was
Lillian Courtnage-Dyke, who placed
70th overall, standing out in a race that featured a stacked field of nearly 400 runners. Her performance marked anotherĀ strong race for the sophomore.Ā
With the Augustana Invitational in the books, the Vikings now shift their focus to the
Midwest Conference Championships in two weeks ā a meet that promises great competition and a chance to bring home hardware.
