Ripon, Wis-- The Lawrence University men's and women's swim and dive teams competed in a tri-meet against Ripon College and Carroll University on Saturday, Jan. 17, in Ripon, Wisconsin, turning in a strong day highlighted by multiple event victories and standout diving performances.
On the women's side, Lawrence opened the meet in impressive fashion, winning the 200-medley relay** as Mattie Ramont,
Kiran Jayasinghe,
Mattie Letendre, and
Zoey Ziegler touched first with a time of 2:00.53. Ziegler continued her strong day by claiming individual victories in both the 200 freestyle (2:06.05) and 100 freestyle (57.05) while also anchoring the winning relay effort. Letendre added another first-place finish for the Vikings in the 50 freestyle (27.16) and later captured the 100 backstrokes (1:01.96). Jayasinghe also secured a win in the 100 butterflies (1:06.39)
Lawrence divers dominated the boards, as Vivi Affatato swept both the five-dive and six-dive 1-meter diving events, posting winning scores of 143.30 and 184.20, respectively. Teammate
Olivia Martin followed closely with second place finishes in both competitions, giving Lawrence a commanding presence in women's diving.
For the men, Lawrence earned several podium finishes in the pool, led by Henry Ambrose, who placed third in the 200 freestyle, and Leslie Cleveland, who finished runner-up in the 200 IM and third in the 100 freestyles. Michael Branham contributed a second-place finish in the 100 butterfly and placed third in the **500 freestyle**, while also finishing third in the 50 freestyle earlier in the meet.
The highlight of the men's competition came on the diving boards, where Jackson Bertman delivered a dominant performance. Bertman won both the five-dive (145.65 points) and six-dive (299.55 points) 1-meter diving events. Lawrence also swept multiple spots behind him, with Bryan Haddad Zamorano and Andrew Ford Taggart adding valuable depth in both competitions.
