GRINNELL, Iowa – Lawrence University's men's and women's swimming and diving teams recorded multiple finals appearances and podium finishes over four days at the 2026 Midwest Conference Championships, competing against the conference's top programs inside Russell K. Osgood Pool.
Senior Jackson Bertman led the Vikings with the highest finishes of the championship on the diving boards. Bertman placed third in the 1-meter diving competition with a score of 387.65, earning 18 team points. He followed that performance with a runner-up finish on the 3-meter board, scoring 415.75 points to secure second place and 19 additional team points. His 3-meter performance marked one of the top overall finishes for Lawrence at the meet.
In the pool, senior Mattie Letendre advanced to the A final of the 100-yard butterfly, finishing sixth overall in 59.53. Letendre opened in 28.97 and closed in 30.56, recording Lawrence's top individual swimming finish of the weekend.
Sophomore Zoey Ziegler joined Letendre in the championship final, placing seventh in 1:00.67 with splits of 28.88 and 31.79. Ziegler also anchored the women's 200-yard medley relay with a strong 24.75 freestyle split.
Lawrence's diving depth was further highlighted by freshman Viv Affatato, who placed seventh in the 3-meter event (322.20) and seventh in the 1-meter competition (320.55). Junior Olivia Martin also reached both diving finals, finishing eighth in 3-meter (266.25) and eighth in 1-meter (292.65).
Sophomore Mattie Ramont competed in the championship final of the 100 butterfly, finishing 14th overall in 1:04.85 with splits of 31.52 and 33.33. Ramont also led off both Lawrence women's relays, opening the 200 medley relay in 31.39 and the 800 freestyle relay in 2:08.43, helping the quartet post a 9:00.11 finish.
On the men's side, freshman Henry Ambrose swam the backstroke leg of the Vikings' 200 medley relay, splitting 31.82 as Lawrence finished in 1:56.73. Ambrose also competed individually in the 100 freestyle prelims, touching in 54.68.
