Lawrence Shows Fight Throughout Dual with Wooster

Hilton Head, SC – The Lawrence University men's tennis team faced a tough test on Friday, falling to Wooster in a dual that featured competitive moments throughout the lineup.

The match opened in doubles play, where the Vikings were pushed into tight contests. At No. 1 doubles, Benjamin Hoppe and Gabriel Garcia battled in a close matchup but came up just short in a tiebreaker, falling 7-6 (8-6). Wooster secured the remaining doubles points at No. 2 and No. 3, taking those matches 6-0 and 6-1 to carry momentum into singles play.

In singles action, Lawrence continued to compete against a strong Wooster lineup. At No. 1 singles, Benjamin Hoppe faced Anthony VanOyen, with VanOyen taking the match 6-1, 6-0. Gabriel Garcia competed at No. 2 singles, falling 6-2, 6-0 to Ian Royse.

Owen Horton battled at No. 3 singles against Enzo Lopes, dropping a 6-0, 6-2 decision, while Will Phillips fell 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4 singles against Bennett Dickerson.

At the bottom of the lineup, Will Lewis and Jonathan Myszka continued to fight for the Vikings. Lewis fell 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles, and Myszka dropped a 6-2, 6-3 decision at No. 6.
