Lawrence Drops Road Match to Lake Forest

Lake Bluff, Illinois — The Lawrence University men's tennis team fell 7-0 to Lake Forest College in Midwest Conference action Saturday at the Racquet Club of Lake Bluff.

Lake Forest opened the match by sweeping all three doubles contests to take the early lead. At No. 2 doubles, Benjamin Hoppe and William Reichen turned in the Vikings' most competitive performance, falling 6-4 to Felipe Moraes and Rodrigo Cunha. At No. 1 doubles, Gabriel Garcia and Will Phillips dropped a 6-1 decision to Bernardo Aguiar and George Ciuca, while Will Lewis and Jonathan Myszka fell 6-0 at No. 3 doubles against Zeke Bisharat and Daniel Fotiev.

In singles play, Lawrence continued to battle across the lineup, highlighted by a tightly contested match at the top position. At No. 1 singles, William Reichen pushed Felipe Moraes in a competitive opening set that went to a tiebreak before ultimately falling 7-6, 6-1.

At No. 2 singles, Benjamin Hoppe dropped a 6-1, 6-3 decision to Bernardo Aguiar. Gabriel Garcia competed at No. 3 singles, falling 6-1, 6-0 to George Ciuca, while Owen Horton battled at No. 4 before dropping a 6-2, 6-1 match to Rodrigo Cunha.

At No. 5 singles, Will Phillips fell 6-1, 6-1 to Joao Espindola. At No. 6 singles, Will Lewis rounded out the lineup for Lawrence as Lake Forest secured the final point to complete the sweep.
