Ripon, Wisconsin — Lawrence University men's tennis turned in a complete performance on Tuesday, defeating Ripon College 7-0 in Midwest Conference play.
The Vikings secured the early advantage by winning the doubles point with victories at No. 2 and No. 3. At No. 2, Gabriel Garcia and William Phillips controlled the match in a 6-4 win, while Jonathan Myszka and Will Lewisfollowed with a 6-2 victory at No. 3 to give Lawrence a 1-0 lead heading into singles.
Lawrence maintained that momentum across the singles lineup, winning all six matches in straight or three-set fashion to complete the sweep.
At the top of the lineup, William Reichen earned a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 1, setting the tone for the Vikings. The most competitive match of the day came at No. 2, where Benjamin Hoppe dropped a tightly contested first set 5-7 before responding with a dominant 6-0 second set. Hoppe carried that momentum into the third, closing out the match 6-2 to secure the point for Lawrence.
At No. 3, Gabriel Garcia posted a 6-3, 7-5 win, while Owen Horton added a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 4. The Vikings also controlled the lower half of the lineup. William Phillips recorded a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 5, and Jonathan Myszka completed the sweep with a 6-0, 6-1 result at No. 6.
