Kenosha, Wisconsin — The Lawrence University men's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to Carthage College on Wednesday in nonconference action.
Carthage took control early by sweeping doubles play to earn the opening point. At No. 1 doubles, Finnian Morris and Diego Silva topped Gabriel Garcia and William Phillips, 6-1. William Reichen and Benjamin Hoppe delivered Lawrence's closest doubles result at No. 2 before falling 6-4 to Luca Okino and Victor Pimenta. At No. 3, Francisco Silveira and Payton Nelson secured a 6-1 win over Owen Horton and Xander Priest to complete the sweep.
In singles, Carthage maintained its momentum across the lineup. Daniel Jaworski picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win over Jonathan Myszka at No. 6, while Linus Eike Harrison Bangert followed with a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Garcia at No. 3. Cyriac Cayuela added another point at No. 2 with a 6-1, 6-1 result over Hoppe.
Carthage continued to build its lead as Marco Czosnyka defeated Phillips 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5, and Ethan Foucheaux posted a 6-2, 6-2 win against Horton at No. 4. In the final match, Silveira closed out the sweep with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Reichen at No. 1.
Lawrence continued to compete throughout the match against a deep Carthage lineup and will look to bounce back as the Vikings move forward in their spring schedule
