OSHKOSH, Wis. — The Lawrence University women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to UW-Oshkosh, but the Vikings turned in several competitive performances throughout the lineup.

Clara Hills earned Lawrence's lone point of the match with a convincing victory at No. 1 singles. Hills took control early and defeated Gibb 6-1, 6-3 to give the Vikings a win at the top of the lineup.

Logan Kane came close to adding another point for Lawrence at No. 2 singles. After dropping the opening set 6-2, Kane responded with a 6-3 win in the second before Owens prevailed 10-5 in the deciding tiebreaker.

Tess McGlenn also pushed her opponent in a competitive No. 3 singles match. McGlenn battled Scheffler to a 6-4 opening set and stayed close throughout the second before falling 7-5. Sky Shinohara, Arisa McCullough and Rachael Pofahl rounded out the Lawrence singles lineup.

UW-Oshkosh grabbed the early advantage by sweeping doubles play, but Lawrence's top pairing made things difficult. Hills and Kane battled Metha and Owens at No. 1 before falling 6-4. Shinohara and McGlenn dropped a 6-1 decision at No. 2, while McCullough and Madelena Priest were defeated 6-2 at No. 3.
