Box Score CLERMONT, Fla. -- Madeline MacLean drove in four runs and Emilia Jackson pitched a complete game to lead the Lawrence University softball team to an 8-1 nonconference win over Kalamazoo College on Thursday.
MacLean went 3-for-3 with a double to lead Lawrence's attack, and lead-off hitter Amanda Karnatz was 2-for-4 and scored a pair of runs. Jackson scattered nine hits, struck out six and walked two to earn the victory for Lawrence (4-6).
Keelin McManus gave up eight runs on seven while striking out four and walking four for Kalamazoo (4-4).
The Vikings jumped on Kalamazoo in the bottom of the first. After a hit batsman and two walks loaded the bases, MacLean drilled a bases-clearing double to put Lawrence up 3-0.
Kalamazoo cut the lead to 3-1 in the top of the fourth inning, but the Vikings put the game away in the fifth and sixth.
Karnatz started the rally in the fifth with a single, and Lexi Angemi doubled to score Karnatz and give Lawrence a 4-1 edge. MacLean later delivered a single to score Angemi, and the Vikings led 5-1.
Lawrence then scored three times in the sixth with the help of two errors, a walk and Karnatz's run-scoring single to go up 8-1.
