Vikings drop two against Illinois College

APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University softball team dropped both games of a Midwest Conference doubleheader on Saturday to Illinois College at Whiting Field.

Illinois College won the first game 3-0 and took the nightcap 11-0 in five innings.

In the first game, Ceara Larson collected two of Lawrence's five hits. Emilia Jackson went the distance and allowed nine hits while striking out six and walking two.

Sydney Hood picked up the win for Illinois College (19-13, 13-5 MWC) as she went the distance. Hood allowed five hits, struck out six and walked one.

In the second game, the Lady Blues scored in each of the first four innings. Illinois College led 6-0 through three and then scored five times in the fourth.

Jackie Reilly went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs to pace Illinois College. Jess Feig gave up just two hits over five innings to pick up the win.

Madeline MacLean, who doubled for the Vikings, pitched the first three innings and took the loss.
