APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University cross country star
Cristyn Oliver has been selected as the Midwest Conference Performer of the Week for the fourth time this season.
Oliver (Redondo Beach, Calif./Bishop Montgomery) was chosen after breaking her own school record at the Augustana Interregional Invitational on Oct. 19.Â
The Lawrence senior covered the 6,000 meters at Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island, Ill., in 21:38.6 to finish in 11th place while racing against an elite field. Oliver broke the record of 21:52.6 that she set the previous week at the Gene Davis Invitational. Â
Led by Oliver, Lawrence finished 14th in the team standings with 428 points with six nationally-ranked teams ahead of the Vikings in the top eight. Lawrence was the top Midwest Conference team in the meet and finished 110 points ahead of Grinnell College, which was its nearest league rival.
Oliver, who has the fastest time in the Midwest Conference by nearly a minute, captured Performer of the Week earlier this season following the Ken Weidt Classic, the Blugold Invitational and the Gene Davis Invitational. She has now been chosen as Performer of the Week 12 times in cross country and six more times in track and field.Â
Lawrence returns to competition on Nov. 2 when the Vikings host the Midwest Conference Championships at Reid Golf Course. Â
