Vikings open indoor season at North Central

Irene Yank took fifth in the 60-meter hurdles at the Cardinal Opener.
    NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- The Lawrence University track and field teams opened their season Friday with a limited squad at the Cardinal Opener at North Central College.
    Leo Hagberg posted the top finish for the Vikings as he placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 19 feet, 9.5 inches. The other male athlete to place was Henry Buehrer, who took seventh in the 400 meters in 53.46 seconds.
    On the women's side, the Vikings had two athletes place in the triple jump. Anna Vanden Acker took seventh with a distance of 30-7.5, and Ashlee Long was eighth at 29-1.75.
    The top finisher for the women was Irene Yank, who took fifth in 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.64 seconds. Natalee Kragie, making her collegiate track debut, grabbed eighth in the high jump with a height of 4-7.
