APPLETON, Wis. --
Mila Westra and the Lawrence University men's and women's track teams have been honored for academic excellence by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
  Westra earned the honor of All-Academic Athlete, and both squads made the grade as All-Academic Teams.
  Westra (Beaver Dam, Wis./Beaver Dam) earned the All-Academic Athlete after putting together a stellar season on the track and posting impressive numbers in the classroom. A biology major, Westra earned a 3.97 grade point average for the academic year. She also ranked in the top 50 in all of NCAA Division III indoors in the 800 meters with a time of 2:16.73. Westra was an All-Midwest Conference honoree indoors in the 800 meters and was the league's Newcomer of the Year in cross country.Â
  To be eligible for All-Academic Athlete status, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.3 grade point average and rank in the top 50 in an event or be an NCAA Division III Championships qualifier. To be eligible for the team award, a squad must have a minimum 3.1 grade point average.
  The Lawrence women's team earned the All-Academic Team award for the ninth consecutive year with a 3.50 grade point average. The men's team picked up the award for the eighth consecutive year with a 3.27 grade point average.Â
