Appleton,Wis.This weekend Lawrence hosted their first home meet of the season in our very own Wellness Gymnasium.

In the first half of the day LU came out successful with a 28-1 record on the Men's side and an 18-9 record on the women's against the University of Minnesota's squads.They continued this through the morning with a 22-5 win on both the men and women's sides against The University of Marquette-Whitewater. Finally, just before lunch, the Lawrence men came out on top with a score of 25-2 for the men and 24-3 for the women against U-Chicago. Lawrence came out of the break swinging with a 25-2 win for the men and a 20-7 win for the women in their second matchup with the University of Minnesota.

Following this the team finished the day strong with a series of wins against the University of Wisconsin Madison and the University of Chicago. The men won their bouts against Madison and U Chicago with 21-6 and 22-5 records respectively. The women finished out the day going 26-1 against UW Madison and 23-4 against U-Chicago. The men's saber squad led by Clarence "CJ" Murzyn and including Cristobal Perez Fourcade and Eli Freyre de Andrade who both went to nationals this past year, defeated the University of Chicago's men's saber team 9-0.

The women's epee team led by Nora Anderson with a record number of new freshmen this year held strong as they won against the University of Wisconsin Madison's squad 9-0. The men's foil team led by Eli Levitas Goron defeated the University of Chicago who have gone toe to toe with Lawrence in years past 7-2.

Overall the home meet was a great success and there were many words of gratitude and appreciation shared on all sides. We certainly appreciate all of the teams who came making the trip to fence this weekend.
