APPLETON, Wis. – The Lawrence University men's and women's fencing teams turned in a dominant performance at their Winter Home Meet, sweeping all six duals and controlling the competition throughout the day inside the Lawrence Wellness Gymnasium.
Lawrence opened the meet with decisive victories over the University of Iowa, as the men earned a 24–3 win while the women followed with a 25–2 result. The Vikings continued their strong start in round two against UW–Whitewater, posting wins of 23–4 on the men's side and 22–5 for the women. Lawrence closed out the morning session with another convincing performance against Purdue, winning 21–6 on the men's side and 22–5 for the women.
Following the midday break, Lawrence elevated its performance in the afternoon rounds. In the second matchup with UW–Whitewater, the men produced a commanding 26–2 victory while the women secured a 24–3 win. Purdue proved more competitive in round five, but Lawrence remained in control, earning wins of 22–5 for the men and 19–8 for the women. The Vikings capped the meet with a dominant sweep of Iowa in the final round, as both the men's and women's teams posted identical 25–2 victories to close the day.
Notable Performances
The women's foil squad, led by Sophie Kelley, turned in a perfect 9–0 performance against Purdue during the morning session, with two newcomers contributing to the undefeated round. On the men's side, the epee group led by Damien Feliciano recorded three consecutive 9–0 rounds from rounds two through four against all three opponents. The women's saber squad, anchored by Maher Rawani, also delivered multiple 9–0 performances against UW–Whitewater across both matchups.
Lawrence consistently controlled bouts across all three weapons on both sides throughout the meet, showcasing depth and balance in the lineup en route to a perfect day of competition at home.
