APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University softball standout
Zoe Doherty has been chosen for the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region IX team.
Doherty (Algonquin, Ill./Huntley) was a second-team selection and earned all-region honors for the first time in her career.
A first-team All-Midwest Conference selection, Doherty put together a tremendous offensive season. Batting in the lead-off spot in Lawrence's order, Doherty hit .431 with eight doubles, four triples, five home runs and 33 runs batted in.
Doherty shattered the Lawrence record for runs scored in a season with 43. The mark was 37, set by Lawrence Hall of Famer Jenny Burris and All-American Amanda Jaskolski. Doherty posted 12 games in which she scored multiple runs and scored a season-best three runs four times.
Doherty also had 12 multi-hit games and had a season-high three hits three times. She drove in a season-high five runs in a victory over Maranatha Baptist University.Â
With a spectacular .597 on-base percentage and .735 slugging percentage, Doherty was able to post an impressive 1.332 OPS for the season.Â
This is Lawrence's first all-region selection since Amanda Karnatz was a first-team pick in 2021. Doherty becomes the 46th Lawrence player to earn all-region honors for the Vikings.
Doherty was a key to Lawrence's resurgence in the Midwest Conference. The Vikings piled up 19 wins on the season, their most since 2015, and earned a berth in the Midwest Conference Tournament for the first time in 10 years.
