Lawrence Dominates Field Events, Finishes Fourth at St. Norbert Invite

De Pere, Wisconsin – The Lawrence University men's and women's track and field teams delivered an impressive all-around performance Saturday at the 2026 St. Norbert College Invitational, highlighted by multiple event victories and strong finishes across both track and field.

The Lawrence men's team placed fourth overall with 52 points, powered by a dominant showing in both the track and field events.

Ryan Cassidy led the way on the track with a first-place finish in the 1500 meters, crossing in 3:59.79, while Zach Meyer added a runner-up finish in the 800 meters at 1:54.70. The Vikings also turned in a strong relay performance, as the 4x100 team of Nick Lubin, Benjamin Baldwin, Cannon Smithers, and Brendan Cross placed second in 44.21. Cross added points individually with a fifth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles (1:00.96), and Baldwin chipped in with a seventh-place finish in the 100 meters (11.37).

Lawrence's biggest impact came in the field events, where the Vikings piled up event titles. Jack McLaughlin captured the hammer throw title with a winning mark of 52.38 meters, while Brady Dilworth added another first-place finish in the javelin with a throw of 51.56 meters. Peyton Muller continued the momentum in the jumps, winning the long jump with a mark of 6.45 meters while also placing second in the high jump (1.82 meters). 

The women's team added to the success with a major field event victory of their own. Greta Vianden led the way with a first-place finish in the hammer throw, recording a winning mark of 41.88 meters to highlight the day.

On the track, Laura Henze paced the distance group with a seventh-place finish in the 1500 meters (5:09.66), while Eli Wunderlich added a sixth-place showing in the 5000 meters (21:37.20). Clara Lyford contributed in the hurdles with a seventh-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles (1:15.04), and Elena Hartung turned in strong sprint performances in both the 200 (26.60) and 400 meters (1:02.47), with Jorja Miller adding a 13.16 effort in the 100 meters.
