MOUNT VERNON, Iowa -- The Lawrence University men's tennis team won the final four singles flights Saturday to post a 5-4 Midwest Conference victory over Cornell College.
Lawrence (8-7, 3-1 MWC) trailed 2-1 entering the singles play, but the Vikings' Cade Francour, Evan Oriel, Matt Chan and Cam Strawn all won to pull out the victory.
Andrea Arivella and Aidan Delgado were 8-1 winners at No. 3 doubles, and the Vikings were defeated at both No. 1 and No. 2 singles.
Francour posted a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 3, and Chan followed with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 5 to tie the match at 3-3. After Cornell (10-7, 2-2) won at No. 2, Strawn was a 6-4, 6-0 winner at No. 6, and Oriel completed a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 4 to give Lawrence the win.
