MADISON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University No. 1 doubles team of
Margot Connor and
Emma Koppa came up just short of a title Saturday at the Midwest Conference Championships at Nielsen Tennis Stadium.
  Connor and Koppa battled the top-seeded team of Sabrina Tang and Irene Agusti of Grinnell College in the final with the Pioneers coming away with an 8-2 victory. Connor and Koppa earned all-conference honors by reaching the championship match.
    Connor and Koppa opened play with an 8-1 drubbing of Ripon College's Hannah Ryback and Tia Endrizzi in the quarterfinals. Connor and Koppa then advanced to the final with an 8-7 victory over Lake Forest College's Maria Jose Campos and Sara Lopez. Connor and Koppa won the match with a 7-1 victory in the tiebreaker.
  Lawrence's No. 2 doubles team of
Lauren Aturaliya and
Chloe Lamb also grabbed a victory in the quarterfinals. Aturaliya and Lamb downed Illinois College's Mikhayla Haloftis and Hannah Lueke 8-1. Aturaliya and Lamb then fell to Margaret Bugnacki and Natalia Leite 8-1 in the semifinals.Â
  The Vikings' No. 3 doubles team of
Morgan Fisher and
Lizzy Angemi posted an 8-0 shutout of Cornell College's Kylie Jacobson and Kaylanna Seu in the quarterfinals. Fisher and Angemi were then eliminated with an 8-0 loss to Lake Forest's Katie Wegrecki and Isa Hinojosa in the semifinals.
  The conference championships continue on Sunday when champions in the six singles flights will be crowned.
