APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University cross country standout Sam Brewer finished second Saturday to lead his team to second place at the Gene Davis Invitational at Reid Golf Course.
    Brewer covered the 8,000 meters in 26:14.1 to take second place. Ripon College's David Potter was first in 26:00.5.
    Lawrence finished second in the team standings with 59 points, and UW-Oshkosh was first with 31.
    The Vikings posted four runners in the top 15. Collin Beyer finished fifth for the Vikings in 26:45.5. He was followed by Adam Bruce, who was seventh in 26:59.9. Billy Daniels was 14th in 27:19.1, and Dylan Coble completed the scoring by taking 31st in 28:47.9.
    The Vikings are back in action at Reid Golf Course next Saturday when they host the Wisconsin Private College Championships.
