SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Lawrence University fencing teams earned eight victories on Saturday's opening day of the DeCicco Duals at the Castellan Fencing Center at the University of Notre Dame.
  The Lawrence men posted a 5-2 record, and the women recorded a 3-4 mark.
  The Lawrence men picked up a 14-13 win over Cleveland State and topped Denison 19-8. Lawrence also downed Detroit Mercy 26-1 and picked up wins over Florida, 15-12, and Northwestern, 23-4.

Atticus Bliss posted the best record on the day as he went 17-2 in epee. Junior
Aaron Reese recorded a 7-2 mark in saber, and that included a 2-1 mark against Notre Dame.
  On the women's side, Lawrence topped Wayne State 19-8 and routed Detroit Mercy 26-1. The Vikings also stopped Florida 15-12.
  First-year fencer Nora Anderson was 16-3 on the day in epee with a 2-1 performance against Northwestern. Senior Lexi Praxl posted a 16-6 mark in saber.
