EVANSTON, Ill. -- The Lawrence University fencing teams faced two days of tough competition as they took on some of the finest teams in the nation during the Northwestern Duals at Ryan Fieldhouse on Saturday and Sunday.
    The Lawrence women posted a 1-8 record and the men finished 0-9. 
    The lone victory for the women came in the final match of the weekend for the Vikings. Lawrence downed Fairleigh Dickinson 20-7 as all three weapon teams came out on top. Saber won 9-0, epee won 6-3 and foil won 5-4. 
    The tightest matches for the Lawrence came in Saturday's meeting against Air Force and Incarnate Word. Lawrence dropped a 15-12 decision to Air Force and fell 16-11 to Incarnate Word.
