Burst set to lead Lawrence men's lacrosse squad

Kasey Burst has been named the new head men's lacrosse coach.
APPLETON, Wis. -- Kasey Burst has been chosen as the new leader of the Lawrence University men's lacrosse program, Director of Athletics Jason Imperati announced today.
Burst comes to Lawrence from the University of Dubuque, where he had served as the head coach since 2016 and built the Spartans into one of the best teams in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.
"We are thrilled to welcome Kasey to Lawrence as our head men's lacrosse coach," Imperati said. "Kasey has a proven history of building winning programs, developing student-athletes and fostering a culture of excellence on and off the field. His passion, energy and commitment to the student-athlete experience make him the right leader to guide our young program into the future."
In his 10 seasons at Dubuque, Burst put together a 76-80 record and won a league championship.
"My family and I are beyond excited to join the team at Lawrence University as well as the greater Appleton community," said Burst, who is married and has a daughter. "Lawrence is a beacon of light in the world of higher education. I believe strongly in the university's mission and am looking forward to contributing to Lawrence's traditions of excellence."
Burst replaces Mikey Zadroga, who guided the Vikings through their inaugural season in 2025. Zadroga resigned this summer and took the head coaching job at Alvernia University in his native Pennsylvania.
"I would like to thank Director of Athletics Jason Imperati, VP of Student Life Chris Clarke and President Laurie Carter for this amazing opportunity," Burst said. "I am humbled and honored to continue to build upon the incredible foundation which Coach Zadroga has laid down for Lawrence men's lacrosse. Go Vikings!"
Burst and his Dubuque squad have compiled four consecutive 10-plus win seasons since 2022. Under Burst's guidance, Dubuque won the Midwest Lacrosse Conference championship in 2022 and played in the NCAA Division III Tournament. Dubuque then finished second in the league in 2023 and 2024. Dubuque made the jump to the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference in 2025, and the Spartans again took second in the league with a 9-2 record and 11-7 overall mark.
The 2022 Midwest Lacrosse Conference Coach of the Year, Burst coached two conference offensive players of the year and three conference defensive players of the year. He coached 36 all-conference players and a three-time Division III All-American during his tenure at Dubuque.
Burst began his college coaching career as an assistant at Clarkson University in 2012 and helped the Golden Knights to back-to-back Liberty League Tournament appearances. Burst then became the head coach at Clarke University in 2014 and embarked on the project of getting the new men's and women's lacrosse programs ready to compete.
A 2010 graduate of Mount St. Mary's University, Burst earned a bachelor's degree in international studies and Spanish. A native of Syracuse, New York, Burst also earned a Master of Business Administration from Mount St. Mary's. A standout defenseman for Mount St. Mary's, Burst was part of two conference championship squads. Mount St. Mary's won the 2010 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference title and earned a berth in the NCAA Division I Tournament. Mount St. Mary's also won the Northeast Conference crown in 2011.
Lawrence finished with a 5-11 overall record and a 3-8 mark in the NACC in its inaugural season in 2025.
