SAINT PETER, Minn. -- First-year player
William Reichen got his collegiate career off to a strong start with a solid showing at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional this weekend.
  Reichen won a pair of singles matches to reach the round of 16 in the event hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College.
  Reichen opened play with a hard-fough 6-2, 4-6, 10-8 victory over Isaac Maddock of Concordia (Minn.) College. Reichen followed that with a straight-sets victory. Reichen downed Coe College's Ivan Burt Smith 6-4, 7-5 in the round of 32.
  Reichen's run came to an end with a 6-3, 6-1 setback to Tyler Haddorff of Gustavus in the round of 16.
  Lawrence's other singles player,
Benjamin Hoppe, dropped a 6-1, 6-3 decision to James Palmer of Loras College in his first match.
  Reichen and Hoppe were defeated 8-0 by Lucas Willett and Gavin Murray of Grinnell College in their opening match.
  Two other Lawrence players,
Jonathan Myszka and
Will Lewis, competed in the Midwest Open at Gustavus.
  Myszka defeated Seth Orta of Simpson College 6-0, 6-2 in his first match. Myszka then lost to Bethel University's Jacob Merriam 6-2, 6-0. Lewis fell 6-4, 6-1 to Carsen Kramer of the University of Northwestern-St. Paul in his opening match.
  Myska and Lewis were defeated by Brayden Richardson and Nate Christensen of Carroll University 8-2 in their opening doubles match.
