Vikings drop matches versus UW-Superior and UW-Eau Claire

| Box Score 2 EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The Lawrence University men's tennis team continued the spring portion of its schedule Sunday with a pair of dual matches at the Eau Claire YMCA, taking on UW-Superior and host UW-Eau Claire.

Match 1 vs UW-Superior 

Lawrence began the day against UW-Superior, with the Yellowjackets earning the doubles point after sweeping all three matches. At No. 1 doubles, Gabriel Garcia and Benjamin Hoppe fell 6-3. The No. 2 team of Will Phillips and Owen Horton dropped a 6-2 decision, while Jonathan Myska and Will Lewis were defeated 6-3 at No. 3.

In singles play, the Vikings competed across the lineup. Benjamin Hoppe battled at No. 1 singles before falling 6-3, 6-0. At No. 2, Gabriel Garcia was defeated 6-1, 6-0. Owen Horton competed at No. 3 and fell 6-1, 6-1.

At No. 4 singles, Will Phillips dropped a 6-3, 6-0 decision. Will Lewis fell 6-3, 6-4 at No. 5 in one of the tighter matches of the dual. At No. 6, Jonathan Myska pushed his match to three sets before being edged 4-6, 7-5, 10-4 in a super tiebreak.

Superior secured straight-set victories in five singles matches and survived the three-set battle at No. 6 to complete the sweep.

Match 2 vs UW-Eau Claire 

The Vikings returned to the court later in the afternoon to face host UW-Eau Claire.

Eau Claire claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. Garcia and Hoppe fell 6-2 at the top position, and Phillips and Horton were defeated 6-0 at No. 2. Lawrence's doubles victory came at No. 3, where Jonathan Myska and Will Lewis earned a 6-2 win.

In singles action, Benjamin Hoppe competed at No. 1 and fell 6-0, 6-2. Gabriel Garcia dropped a 6-2, 6-0 decision at No. 2. At No. 3, Owen Horton was defeated 6-0, 6-3. Will Phillips fell 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4. Will Lewis battled at No. 5 before falling 6-3, 6-2. At No. 6, Devyn Gurns was edged 6-2, 6-2.

Despite strong effort throughout the lineup and the doubles win at No. 3, the Blugolds secured the team victory.
