APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University women's soccer standout
Kate Noonan has been named the Midwest Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
Noonan (Osceola, Ind./Penn), a sophomore defender, received the honor in the wake of Lawrence's 1-0-1 start to the season.
Noonan scored a pair of goals and handed out an assist in Lawrence's 5-0 victory at Lakeland University. Noonan also spearheaded a defensive effort that held the Muskies without a shot for the game.Â
Noonan picked up an assist on Lawrence's second goal of the game when her corner kick was headed into the net by rookie
Sieanna Sandor in the 40th minute. Noonan then picked up her first goal of the game in the 60th minute when she scored off Hannah's Kalt corner kick to give the Vikings a 4-0 edge. Noonan then completed the scoring on a penalty kick in the 66th minute.
This is the first Player of the Week honor for Noonan, and keeps a trend alive for the Vikings. Lawrence won the Defensive Player of the Week award four times during the 2024 season.
Lawrence returns to action Friday when the Vikings travel to UW-La Crosse for a nonconference match.
