Yui Ito teamed with Andrew Larson at No. 1 doubles.
MIDDLETON, Wis. -- The No. 1 and 3 doubles teams had the top performances Sunday for the Lawrence University men's tennis team at the Midwest Conference Championships at Hitters SportsPlex.
The No. 1 doubles team of Andrew Larson and Yui Ito started their day with an 8-4 victory over Andrew Shie and Brendan Guenther of Monmouth College in the quarterfinals. Larson and Ito were stopped 8-1 in the semifinals by the eventual champions, Oleksyi Vyshyvanyuk and Daniel Tulchinskiy of Lake Forest College.
At No. 3, Lawrence's team of Jonathan Hogan and Dylan Delgado opened with an 8-3 win over Senaf Fayissa and Jovan Norris of Illinois College in the quarterfinals. Again it was the eventual champions that knocked Hogan and Delgado out on the semifinals. Grinnell College's Karch Knoll and Leo Esztergomi topped  Hogan and Delgado 8-1 in the semifinals.
Lawrence's No. 2 team of Cam Strawn and Rahul Sabnis opened with an 8-2 loss to Cornell College's Chris Penas-Hull and Edwin Holyoake. Strawn and Sabnis bounced back to knock off Monmouth's Sawyer Day and Andre Myklebust 8-3 in the consolation final.
